Believe It or Not, Freezing Lemons Might Be The Best Thing You’ve Ever Done With Them

Newest studies show that we should not waste a single part of lemons, as these versatile fruits are incredibly healthy just the way they are!
Apparently, we should wash an organic lemon, and place it in the freezer. When frozen, grate it or shred the entire fruit, without peeling, and sprinkle it on salads, desserts, noodles, cereals, soups, ice-cream, sauces, and various dishes.
Namely, the peel of lemons contains 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself, so we make a huge mistake when throwing it away.
Lemons are a rich source of numerous vitamins and minerals, so they improve health in various different ways.  They have powerful anti-microbial, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, so they prevent infections in the body. DNA cell protection, immune system regulation, and inflammation relief are only a small part of the numerous nutritional advantages of lemons.
According to Dr.Mercola:
“It’s probably no surprise that lemons provide a lot of vitamin C, but the amount per serving is pretty impressive at 187% of the daily value, making it a super infection fighter.
Teamed with flavonoid glycosides called esperetin and naringenin (found in most citrus fruits), the combination provides radical free-radical zapping activity. Free radicals can do serious damage to blood vessels and can contribute to cholesterol build up in artery walls, atherosclerosis, and even heart disease.
Lemons are also a good source of thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, iron, and magnesium, and are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin B6, calcium, potassium, and copper, as well as folate and potassium.
The citric acid in lemons aids in digestion and helps to dissolve kidney stones, while the ascorbic acid is a natural antioxidant that prevents the sailor’s dread -- scurvy. Other antioxidants in lemons include ß-carotenes, beta-cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, lutein, and vitamin A, which promotes healthy mucus membranes, skin, and vision. Pantothenic acid and folates, provided by lemons, are compounds needed by the body, but can only be derived from sources outside the body.”
Lemons also fight acidosis in the body, regulate blood pressure, lower stress, and treat depression and nervous disorders.
“A new study has shown for the first time how limonoids, natural compounds present in lemons and other citrus fruit, impede both ER+ and ER-breast cancer cell growth. This sheds new light on the importance of citrus fruit for breast cancer prevention and supports past studies which showed fruit consumption may lower breast cancer risk.”
Additionally, the lemon extract destroys affected cells only and does not harm the healthy cells.
Although the effects of these extract have not been tested on humans yet, these findings are very promising. Yet, what we strongly advise is to start freezing your lemons, and consume them more frequently, in order to enjoy their amazing healing properties!
