The REAL Permanent Cure For Herpes – What Works And What Doesn't
Updated on March 16, 2015
If you’ve ever had the Herpes Simplex Virus Type II (HPV 2 – Genital Herpes) virus, you’ll know about it, because you’ll get those painful sores on your unmentionables and the more you Google about the virus, the more you’ll find out that HPV 2 sufferers are considered permanent social outcasts and there’s no concrete testimonials for all the “permanent” cures found online. There’s a very good reason for that – herpes is a great money spinner for a plethora of people out there and while it can be permanently cured in theory, in practise you would have to be very, very lucky indeed.
So is there a permanent cure for genital herpes?
As someone who received the virus without knowledge or consent, I can assure anyone who has it that it is a manageable condition and usually cannot be cured permanently. There are a few things that I have learnt from trawling through thousands of forum posts on the net, as well as from my own experience that might assist if you’re experiencing the lows and wish to be rid of them as much as you can. Read on and learn the pitfalls, the drama and the hype surrounding the herpes virus…

Did You Know?
There have been many clinical trials trying to find a permanent cure for the human papilloma virus. Unfortunately, if you research these well enough, you'll find that some of the more promising ones have been discontinued by pharmaceutical companies (either a sudden lack of funding or some other miscellaneous reason).
As soon as I found out this, I knew that permanent cures would be withheld from the public as long as it pays not to have them. However, many medical scientists agree that herpes is a very tricky thing to cure. It really is hard to discern the truth in this matter.

The Internet Definition Of A “Permanent Cure”
If you think of a “permanent cure”, you might think of a medicine (natural or manmade) that will eradicate all symptoms for good, so that the illness never comes back and wellness is assured.
I read on a forum somewhere that in America, a “permanent cure” (as defined by the pharmaceutical industry) is a cure that could cover anything from making the illness a little less prominent to complete recovery.
Apparently, if a product makes a very, very small difference to the illness, it can be marketed as being a permanent cure, though it might fall short of the expectations of the consumer.
Many products claiming to cure or permanently cure the herpes virus online follow the American pharmaceutical definition, which means as far as anyone knows, none of them actually cure your condition, they all just help a little bit. Not surprisingly, you won’t find any solid testimonials about permanent cures for herpes, because these products don’t actually cure the illness, though you will find testimonials that some of them helped a bit.
There is money to be made from herpes sufferers (as there is no real, permanent cure) so you’ll find that most of the products on offer are hideously expensive and you are supposed to take them for years on end. Whether natural or manmade or doctor prescribed, herpes cures are a new fad that have taken the internet by storm as marketers attempt to get their hands on the cash of the 536 million people worldwide who have the virus.

Why Isn’t There A Real Permanent Cure?
There are a few reasons for this. You could ask the question “Why hasn’t someone invented a proper cure for cancer yet?” and probably get similar answers.
Let’s start with the obvious. Herpes is a complex virus that is transported along sensory nerves to the nerve cell bodies, where it resides for life. It also gets stored in fat cells and is replicated in DNA in some people.
It’s not a simple matter of applying a cream or even ridding the body of viruses, because it is stored in so many places and just returns as the cells divide and replace. This is why “cures” will remove the virus temporarily from the bloodstream, and can even give you negative test results, but the virus will come back once you stop taking the cure and the hidden virus-ridden cells multiply again (I have achieved negative test results before and yes, the virus comes back!)
When a test for herpes comes back negative, it doesn’t mean that the virus is gone from your body. The only way to prove it has gone permanently is to have several negative tests and no outbreaks in a two year period, while you are not on any extra medications or treatments.
From what I have read, it would be very difficult to eradicate all viruses in the body without years of time devoted to it, multiple “cures” used at the same time and vigorous exercise. In most people, this would be asking too much and they wouldn’t be able to keep it going for years on end because of the cost and how hard it can be to stick to rigid diets and exercise. Even then, this might not be a guarantee for a permanent cure anyway as it only takes a couple of virus-ridden cells to escape your ministrations and multiply again to give you the virus back.
Another reason there is no permanent cure is that pharmaceutical companies would prefer to keep herpes sufferers buying medications for life, rather than treat people and make less money. I have read in many places that this is why there is no cure for many terminal illnesses such as cancer, AIDS etc. Maybe there aren’t real cures, maybe there are – but in either case, we’re left out in the cold with nothing to do but keep on paying for the “cures” designed to be used frequently for the rest of our lives.

Treating The Symptoms As Affordably As Possible
Don’t you just LOVE how people who haven’t had Herpes Type II describe an outbreak as an “unpleasant tingle” or “a bit of soreness” or “minor symptoms”? Let me just say that if any of these people who are blogging about herpes on the net actually had it with proper outbreaks, they would know the pain of weeing for three weeks through razor blades as well as the way all of your new dates, partners and friends make a dash for the door the minute you tell anyone you have it.
As someone who doesn’t want to spend $10,000 a year hoping for a permanent cure that never comes and continually disappoints, I would like to share some things that have worked for me in managing the condition, so you can get the minimum possible amount of razor blades in your life, too.

Nutribullet Review
I own a Nutribullet and found it a good way to get vitamins into your body quickly. It's a type of juicer and the theory behind it is that it makes food small enough for your intestines to absorb nutrients easier. It's recommended for anyone wanting to boost their immune system, including older people and young children. It's very useful for herpes sufferers because once you've bought it, it's very cheap to make juice (eg. I use half a carrot, half an apple and some spinach for a breakfast juice). Much easier than cooking meals if you're time poor.
The Nutribullet does cost a bit, but since I have used it every day for the past year, I can tell you that it's definitely worth it. Unlike other juicers, washing is easy and involves rinsing a cup and blade - that's it! I have owned other commercial juicers which are noisy, hard to clean and which require significant amounts of fruit and vegetables to make a cup of juice. The Nutribullet allows you to keep all of the pulp in the juice with no wastage. You can also make soups with it too. It truly is a marvellous machine and one that I use a lot to keep me healthy.
HINT
Don't forget to use fresh fruit and vegetables from a greengrocer and not from major supermarket chains.

Getting Enough Vitamins
The first thing you need to do is to make sure your body is getting enough vitamins and nutrients. If you are buying fruit and vegetables from a major grocery or supermarket chain, you’ll need to stop. Go to a small greengrocer.
The reason for this is that herpes attacks your immune system and if you get run down and lack vitamins, you’re automatically going to have more outbreaks. Big supermarket chains like to freeze their fruit and veg (sometimes up to years on end). If you’ve ever tried to fix the flu with a bag of oranges (for Vitamin C) from one of these chains, you’ll know that relief just doesn’t happen.
Try the small greengrocers or farm fresh produce that is not frozen at all – you’ll be able to tell the difference because it will smell strongly and will taste better. If you eat it as a permanent lifestyle change it will boost your immune system well.
Since I switched to a greengrocer for all my fruit and veg two years ago, I haven’t had a single cough, cold or flu, even when flu-ridden co-workers have coughed all over me in an air conditioned workplace. The best part is, it can be cheaper to shop at these fresh food places, though you may have to drive further on your grocery shopping day.
Another way to make the most of these fruit and veg is to buy a juicer, something really simple like a Nutribullet (which only involves rinsing a cup and blade). I’ve owned quite a few juicers in my time and don’t wish to spend half a day washing and putting machines back together so I spent some extra money buying a better juicer so I didn’t have to. I have a Nutribullet juice every morning and it is great for getting vitamins into you and for staying healthy.
The best effect is gained from fresh fruit and veg when you eat them raw, as cooking, baking or boiling produce diminishes the nutritional value of the food. Therefore, eat as many salads or fresh juices as possible and fruit salad and milkshakes are also great!
Some people say exercise can help and if you feel like it, you should definitely do it, though be aware that sweating can be a trigger for herpes outbreaks. I can’t say that exercise is something I’ve been able to stick to or derive much pleasure from, so I make the most of juices and salads instead.

Natural Cures For Herpes That Work
OK, here’s a list of reasonably affordable "cures" I have found that help a lot. Herpes is a virus which comes and goes. When it multiplies dramatically in the body, you get outbreaks. A sign of an imminent outbreak is a tingle or itch on the affected areas. If you ignore the tingle, you’ll get full on razor blade pain as soon as the virus multiplies enough to cause blisters (eg over a few days). As soon as you feel an outbreak about to happen, try one of these:

1. Visit The Ocean Or The Swimming Pool
There’s nothing like bathing in sea water or chlorine for 30 mins to get rid of itchiness quickly! Try it in summer. Helps a lot, especially if you had a lover the night before and it feels like a flare up is about to happen.

More Information...
If you’d like to find out more about this type of therapy, the expert is Kevin Richardson, who explains all about it (including the history behind it) in his book “The Miracle Cure”, which is where I first heard about it. He claims oxygen therapy is a permanent cure for herpes, but having done the course, I can tell you it isn’t, though at the end of the full program, you can test negative for HPV 2. If you find the dosages in his book confusing, just remember that 8 drops or less per 600ml spring water is the dilution to use.
Avoid buying the book "Get Rid Of Herpes" by Sarah Wilcox, it appears to be a duplicate of "The Miracle Cure", leaving out some of the important stuff.
2. Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
This stuff works marvellously by supplying additional oxygen to your cells and basically stimulating your immune system to a higher strength. To treat, purchase 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide from a natural food or health food store. It should cost around AU$50 for a litre (a 5 year supply). You will also need to buy a small glass dropper with a vial. You will need to dilute the hydrogen peroxide in spring water (do not use tap water) before using it or you can cause severe injury to yourself.
Here is the official formula:
1 part of the 35% H202 + 71 parts additional liquid (eg spring water) = 0.05% H202 (Safe to ingest, according to the US Government)
Following the formula, I use a maximum of 8 drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide per 600ml of spring water from the supermarket and shake it really well before drinking (if it isn’t dissolved properly you can burn your throat, so shake vigorously). I drink it three times a day when I feel an outbreak coming on. After a few days, the tingling goes away with no blisters. Feel free to dilute it with more spring water if you’re worried, extra dilution does not lessen the effects. I like to give my body a rest after using oxygen therapy as the immune system should not be constantly stimulated, but for the purpose of preventing an outbreak now and then it is fine.
Store the hydrogen peroxide in the freezer (it doesn’t freeze) and keep a small amount in a dropper bottle in the fridge to use, but make sure you keep it away from children and check the depreciation of the strength of it (each year, it becomes a little less potent so you need to use more as it ages).

Did You Know?
Genital herpes was around in ancient times, centuries ago. People thought it was just cold sores on the unmentionables and it was not considered a big deal - no one worried too much about it because they didn't know you could get it as an STD.
3. Olive Leaf Extract
I haven’t used this yet, but it looks as good as oxygen therapy and follows the same principles regarding eliminating viruses in the bloodstream. Look for olive leaf extract with 20% Oleuropein content (liquid drops in the mouth are supposed to be more effective than capsules).
This does cost a bit but I feel it is quite safe – excess oleuropein is eliminated in urine. I suspect it is easier to take if you have a busy lifestyle and don't want to use oxygen therapy. Take 1500mg per day (3 doses of 500mg) until symptoms disappear, then take the normal dose noted on the bottle as a preventative measure if you like. A brand worth considering is BioActive Nutrients, though there are others around. Just make sure it is standardised to 20% Oleuopein.

4. Avoid Sweat & Wetness
If you have any tingling, soak in a bath for awhile, then dry the area thoroughly and wear cotton underpants where possible. Do not allow the area to remain wet or irritated with sweat or you can almost guarantee what will happen next! Make sure you clean the bath by washing the bath surface with water after you use it, to get rid of cell shedding that puts herpes cells into the bath for the next person. Do not share towels with anyone, for the same reason.

5. Sleep & Relaxation
If you think your latest outbreak might be caused by emotional stress, then a nice bath and sleep is definitely in order. Be very careful to get enough sleep every night, because if you don’t it will play havoc with your immune system. A good night’s sleep should be top priority.
Lots of people swear by lots of different products for curing herpes on the internet, but the things above were what worked well for me. Other supplements that are supposed to be effective are Lysine, Vitamin C and Zinc (but all of these can be obtained from fresh fruit and vegetables anyway).

Common Triggers For Outbreaks
Triggers for herpes outbreaks can be different for everyone, but here are some common ones that many people experience:
Excessive alcohol consumption
Consumption of certain nuts and grains
Smoking
Sweating
Depression and anxiety
Physical stress and fatigue
Caffeine
Not enough sleep
Sugar and aspartame
Menstruation
Vigorous intercourse and masturbation
Extreme cold
Poor diet
Immunosuppressant drugs

Conclusion
Ultimately, it’s all about keeping your immune system up to par, not excessively rubbing/disturbing the area and making sure that any imminent outbreaks are treated immediately. If you manage HPV2 this way, you will definitely get less outbreaks and therefore less pain.
According to the literature, over time you’ll get less frequent and less severe outbreaks as long as you take care of your immune system. Some lucky people lose their outbreaks altogether, though they still carry the virus.
I wish the best of luck to anyone else having this insidious virus and I hope I’ve pointed out some better ways to spend your money as well as give you the lowdown on “cures” so that in your search for finding a cure for herpes, you don’t get ripped off or disappointed.
