There's a massive recall of 16-ounce bags of Private Brands Frozen Broccoli Cutsacross the country due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The 16-ounce bags were sold at Stop & Shop, Giant, and Martin’s grocery stores across the East Coast. The broccoli has a sell-by date of March 15, 2020 and a UPC code of 68826700926.
The recall is a result of the Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection, Food & Standards finding of listeria contamination when conducting a random store sample test. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), common symptoms of listeriosis include headache, stiff neck, confusion, fever, and muscle aches. Doctors can treat an infection with antibiotics, but it poses an especially dangerous risk for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
Employees have likely already removed the affected products from shelves, but if you happened to have purchased one recently, you should return them to your local store for a full refund.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can call 1-800-767-7772.
