How to Get Rid of Phlegm and Mucus in Chest & Throat (Instant Result) ( courtecy'- dailt health post )
We all know the feeling – we’re sitting in the middle of a meeting, or out running errands and out of nowhere, we can’t breathe and we’ve got a nagging, persistent cough.
Often, these problems occur as a result of increased phlegm in the lungs. No stranger to colds, phlegm is a thick substance that is found in the respiratory tract. It’s responsible for fighting infections, but when it accumulates, our body will resort to coughing as a way to expel it.
If you’ve ever experienced a coughing fit, you know you’re most likely on the verge of getting a cold. Common symptoms include fever, weakness, a runny nose, that nagging cough and difficulty breathing.
Left untreated, excess phlegm can cause bigger problems with the bronchial tubes in your body. Thankfully, there are some tried and true natural remedies which can help treat this condition.
While there are many home cures, experts tend to agree that the following are the most effective. Best of all, they can all be made with ingredients already on hand, and have none of the nasty side effects of conventional store bought medications.
1. Honey And Lemon
Honey has been used for centuries to cure everything from upset stomachs to coughs and colds. The acidity found in lemon helps to break up phlegm and have you back to health in no time. It’s also rich in Vitamin C, which helps to reinforce our immune systems and reduce congestion.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon organic honey (It’s best if you can use honey that’s locally sourced)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh squeezed works best, but store bought is okay, too)
Instructions: Mix the ingredients in your favorite mug and drink it. You can drink this up to three times a day to fight congestion and relieve infection. Don’t drink it more often than that, as too much lemon juice can upset stomachs easily.
2. Ginger Tea
Ginger is a root that is commonly found in many Asian remedies. It’s a natural decongestant and antihistamine that has expelling and antibacterial properties.
When consumed as a tea, ginger can help soothe your chest and throat congestion by drying out phlegm and stimulating its elimination.
And even if you’re not suffering from a cold, ginger tea is a great addition to any home health care routine, since it helps to ward off infection.
If tea isn’t your thing, you can always just eat a few slices of raw ginger. Be prepared for some serious punch though! Ginger is considered by some to be spicy.
Ingredients:
- 6-7 slices of ginger
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon honey (local is best)
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
Instructions: Bring water to a boil. Add ginger and peppercorns. Cover the pot and allow mixture to boil for one minute. Lower the heat and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. The longer you let this simmer, the more pronounced the ginger flavor will be. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain to remove the ginger and peppercorns. Sweeten with honey.
Experts agree that drinking 2 or 3 cups a day can be very beneficial to your health and help you breathe easier.
