UNASCHA is a 2014 Bengali film directed by Souvik Mitra.
Featuring Soumitra Chatterjee, Rupa Ganguly, Angana Basu, Sayani Ghosh, Rajat Ganguly among others, it is an urban story of a retired lady Professor, Mohona of Santiniketan, who after retirement bought a flat in the city and lives alone.
Her only daughter, Parna, studies in Santiniketan’s Vishwa Bharati and lives in a hostel. Mohona’s husband, also a professor in Santiniketan died some years back. Her long lost ‘friend’ of college days, now a renowned writer, novelist Animesh Mukherjee, has just won an award and is heading towards Delhi to receive it.

Animesh has a plan in mind. The authority has send the to and fro railway tickets which involving 3 days of engagement to Animesh. But he planned to receive the award in Delhi and ‘fly’ back to city that night itself, and stay with his ‘friend’ Mohona at her place in Kolkata for 24 hours…a life-long dream both has nourished secretly!
The plan was a success until midnight when Animesh began feeling uneasy and eventually died with a massive heart attack!
The next day, the news spread like a wild fire with channels beaming the story of ‘friendship’ with a pinch of salt – the privacy of their relationship going astray.
The only daughter Parna, rushes to her mother from Santiniketan, while the forensic team is suspecting foul play!
And then, the confrontation on the lines of 'extra-marital' relationships begins between mother and daughter, while Banhi - wife of Animesh, comes into the picture.
